Dissolution of Edwardes College Peshawar Board of Governors (BoG) sought

PESHAWAR: The Church of Pakistan, Diocese Peshawar on Monday asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Mamnoon Hussain to dissolve the existing Board of Governors (BoG) of the Edwardes College Peshawar and constitute a fresh one.

Speaking at a press conference, Minorities Member Provincial Assembly from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Fredrick Azeem Ghouri said the government had advertised the post of the principal of the college through print media. He termed the move illegal.

He said the advertisement was aimed at taking control of the college from the church. He said the college was an autonomous education institution that falls under the control of the church.

Flanked by Hayat Bhatti, Denial Samuel and others, he said the church administration and Bishop of Diocese have been kept away from the college affairs. He said the college existing board of governors had removed its principal without serving any prior notice on him. He said only the bishop had the authority to appoint or remove the principal.
