Keeping up with the changes in the global MBA programmes offered in universities, EDHEC Management Institute, France, has chosen to strengthen its full-time global MBA programme on the two fundamental themes, finance and leadership, by offering students the choice between two global tracks. A third track, focusing on entrepreneurship is already planned for 2013.
The programme will remain a generalist MBA, aiming at training general global managers , but will allow participants to reinforce a chosen capacity depending on their profile and career goals. Elaborating more on the new tracks, Emmanuel Metais, director, EDHEC MBA programme says, "We have decided to open three tracks in the full-time MBA programme — global leadership (2012), finance (2012) and entrepreneurship (2013). Our aim is to serve the community by providing our client companies with the leaders they need for future global developments and by providing our participants with a life-changing experience."
According to Metais, in global leadership, the aim is to provide companies with global leaders in the present times. He says, "Students selecting this track will attend several courses, including managing global projects in partnership with IBM. Students will also spend one week on our EDHEC executive campus in Singapore, in order to understand global leadership from an Asian perspective."
Explaining the importance of the finance track, Metais says, "Despite the crisis (and because of the crisis) the need for managers and executives having a solid background in finance is now mandatory. Students will also attend several courses, including international corporate finance and financial economics. Students will also spend one week on our EDHEC executive campus in London, to concretely understand the mechanisms of international financial markets."
The third track on entrepreneurship, which will commence in 2013, is planned keeping in mind the need of entrepreneurs for the community to open new avenues for growth and to create jobs. "Courses will include entrepreneurial finance and project financing. Students opting for this track will spend one week in the Silicon Valley and will be hosted at the Stanford University's guesthouse. They will meet managers from companies like Google, Facebook and Cisco," says Metais.
The length of each track will be one-and-ahalf months, including the business trip. The cost of these tracks (courses + business trips) is included in the overall tuition fees.
