THE Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) has proposed Rs6 billion for development schemes for the Annual Budget 2013-2014, The News has learnt.
The total proposed budget of the HED is Rs33 billion, out of which Rs27 billion will be spent on non-development expenditures while Rs6 billion will be utilised for new and ongoing development schemes of the Higher Education Sector.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday directed the Sindh government to vacate the Islamia College complex, where over 12 educational institutions are house, within six weeks.
A division bench, headed by Justice Maqbool Baqar, observed that the Governor House and the Chief Minister House could be utilised to impart education to affected students if its order was not be complied with.
The bench was hearing a petition of the Islamic Education Trust

As many as 1,671 gastro patients, including women and children, were brought to different hospitals in Lahore on Wednesday, setting alarm bells ringing.
