With a view to introducing food grade and environment-friendly packaging, the government should make it mandatory to use jute bags for storage and transportation of food produces.
For the past few years, a dangerous trend of storing wheat in polypropylene bags has been introduced in Punjab, which is not suitable for packing grains. Jute bags are available in a great number in the country to cater to the need of government departments involved in wheat procurement.
