‘Poetry makes us culturally rich’
Karachi
Good poetry makes a nation culturally rich by inculcating aesthetic sense, celebrated Urdu poet Fahmida Riaz said on Friday. During a meeting organised by the Aurat Foundation, she condemned violence against women in Pakistani society.
Riaz made ripples in the early 1970s for her defiant and feminist poetry in Urdu literature. “For an enlightened society to emerge, fundamentalism that grips our society must be sidelined,” she said.
