MANGALORE: Mangalore unit of Sri Pathanjali Yoga Shikshana Samiti in association with Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar and Yogic Early Educational Service Trust, Chidambaram has started job-oriented diploma courses in yoga.

The course content includes hatha yoga, raja yoga, karma yoga, tanta yoga, bhakti yoga, ayurveda, naturopathy, sidha and other allied disciplines supported by modern science and technology.

K N Shetty, president, Sri Pathanjali Yoga Shikshana Samiti told reporters here on Saturday that the programme was an innovation concept and was a mixture of on-campus and off-campus modes. "In this students undergo intensive coaching for 250-300 hours in an year. Directorate of distance education of Annamalai University will provide the self-learning materials for study at one pace and leisure," he said.

"The directorate will conduct the examination at its local centre in Mangalore and the university will grant the diploma/degree to successful candidates. The degree is recognised by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi," he added.
