Despite all efforts and vocal speeches, famous actor Omar Sharif and his team representing Shahr-e-Quaid Panel (SQP) cut a poor figure and instead all the nominated representatives of Ahmad Shah-Ejaz Faroqui Panel (ASEFP) won the elections of Arts Council of Pakistan (Karachi) by securing more than 70 per cent votes over the SQP candidates.

Muhammad Ahmad Shah secured 2001 votes to be elected as President against his rival Omar Sharif who managed 1064 votes. Prof Ejaz Faruqi was elected as Secretary by receiving 1995 votes against his opponent Syed Azfar Rizvi of SQP who secured 1010 votes.
