BAHAWALPUR: Girls outshone boys by grabbing nine top positions, including three overall top positions, in the SSC annual examination 2011.
As many as 35,425 candidates, out of total 64,158, have been declared successful in the, showing a pass percentage of 55.22. Mariam Zafar (Roll No 703043) of Chishtian Girls Science School, Chishtian secured overall first position in the examination with 1018 marks. Shabia Zohra (Roll No 709532) of Government Comprehensive Girls High School Bahawalpur got the second position with 1016 while Rimsha Saadia Bukhari (Roll No 703082) of Chishtian Girls Science School, Chishtian stood third with 1014 marks.
In the Science Group (Boys), Osama Ali (Roll No 718474) of Oxbridge Public High School Rahimyar Khan secured the first position with 1010 marks. Muhammad Hammad Nisar (Roll No 710962) of Al-Pina Boys School Hasilpur got the second position with 1007 marks while Faizanul Islam (Roll No 710938) of Al-Pina Boys School Hasilpur got the third position with 1001 marks. In the Science Group (Girls), all the three overall position holders were the topers.
In General Group (Boys), private candidates Muhammad Umar (Roll No 102964) of Chak No 3R/48 and Muhammad Awais (Roll No 511413) of Millat Colony Bahawalpur shared the first position with 895 marks. Adil Ashraf (Roll No 107947) of Government Secondary school Bagh-o-Bahar Khanpur notched up the second place with 851 marks. Muhammad Ramazan (Roll No 107798) of Al-Badr Public Boys High School Head Rajkan got the third position with 841 marks.
In the General Group (Girls), Asma Abbas (Roll No 101846) of Government Girls High School, Chishtian secured the first position with 920 marks. Ramzana Bibi (Roll No 101795) of Government Girls High School Chishtian and Afra Sattar (Roll No 110867) of Fatima Public High School Chak No 175/P, Sadiqabad jointly secured the second position with 916 marks. Uroosa Irshad (Roll No 108276) of Government Girls Model Secondary School Khanpur and Humaira Kiran (Roll No 101718) of Government Girls High School Chishtian shared the third position with 906 marks.
Punjab Minster for Prisons Malik Muhammad Iqbal Chanar, who was the chief guest, asked the position holders to sit on the dais as the function was in their honour. Commissioner Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmad gave away prizes and medals to the position holders. Mariam Zafar, the overall toper, said that her mother had died during her examination but she won laurels by the blessing of Allah Almighty. “I dedicate my success to my late mother,” she said.The news.
