LAHORE:The Punjab government has decided in principle not to extend annual summer vacation this year in the wake of holy month of Ramazan and hot weather.
According to Secretary Schools, Punjab, Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, the government would not extend summer vacation this summer. If the vacations are extended, schools would be unable to complete academic year of 210 days, he said, adding that, as per education calendar every school - government or private - was bound to complete 210 days of academic year.
It is pertinent to mention that the Punjab government, through its Schools Department, had notified annual summer break from June 1 to August 14 this year. There were rumors that the government might extend summer vacation owing to ongoing holy month of Ramazan and hot weather. However, a controversy is likely to erupt as many private schools have been planning to extend the vacation on the pressing demands of parents of the students.The news.
