PWI’s 2nd certificate distribution ceremony held at KC

LAHORE: Programme for Women’s Improvement’s (PWI) second certificate distribution ceremony was held at the Kinnaird College (KC) for Women on Tuesday.

Justice Nasira Iqbal was the chief guest of the event while KC Principal Dr Rukhsana David was also present on the occasion.

Certificates were awarded to students who had passed in Foundations in Accountancy (FIA), ACCA and other short courses including English fluency, basic computer, textile designing, fashion designing, interior designing and graphic designing courses.

Addressing the event, Nasira said that Pakistan was made in the name of minorities, who were the Muslims at that time, so that they may have a separate homeland where they could practice their religion freely. She said that our purpose now should be to provide a similar freedom to other minorities living in Pakistan, however, rampant terrorism had made it impossible.

Education means liberation from darkness, which means that education alone could cure Pakistan’s problems, she said.

Most of the problems in Pakistan today are due to over population, she said, adding that the future would be bleak if the country’s growth rate continued at the current pace.
