Upesh Qazi Hafeezullah Awarded P. hD Degree at the age of 82

Peshawar: 29 july: Veteran Afghan National Qazi Hafeezullah has become one of the oldest person in the world to have been recommended for the award of P. hD degree at the age of eighty two. Qazi Hafeezullah was recommended for the award of P. hD in Islamic Studies from Institute of Islamic and Arabic Studies University of Peshawar after a successful oral defence of his P. hD thesis on Thursday.
The research scholar confidently presented his topic on Mullah Ali Qari Al Harvi Tafseer on Anwar ul Quran and Israrul Furqan. His P. hD supervisor was Professor Dr. Muhammad Umar while Prof. Dr. Fazal ur Rehman of the Islamic University Islamabad served as external examiner.
The scholar belongs from Afghan province of Nagahar and has served in Khost University as Prof. of Islamic Studies. He had earlier done MA and M.Phil from University of Peshawar. After retirement from service he wanted to complete his P. hD degree but couldn’t do it because he couldn’t afford the expenses.
Prof. Dr. Hafeezullah on the occasion thanked his teachers and especially Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Azmat Hayat Khan who waived off his entire fee and other dues for pursuing his P. hD degree.
Getting a P. hD degree was a dream of a life time for me which would not have been accomplished, if I was not supported financially by University of Peshawar, he concluded.
Mr. Ihsanullah and Mr. Sohail from the Institute of Islamic and Arabic Studies also successfully defended his P. hD thesis and were recommended for the award of P. hD degree.
