Karachi:The vision of slain former prime minister Benazir Bhutto had made her one of the prominent world figures, and the universities of Pakistan should focus on its global background as it has academic importance.
This observation was made by the vice-chancellor (VC) of the Karachi University (KU), Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, on Sunday.
He was speaking at a seminar organised by the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair (SMBBC), KU, in collaboration with the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi. According to a press release, the event was held on the City Campus of the IBA.
The vice-chancellor said that Bhutto was keen to encourage peace and strengthen democracy in Pakistan. He said that the SMBBC was set up at the KU to carry out research on her vision, life, achievements and mission so that it could be carried forward.
The general secretary of the Pakistan People’s Party, Sindh, Taj Haider, said that Bhutto had also desired socio-economic development in the country in order to help overcome the problem of poverty and unemployment.
Speaking on the occasion, the director, IBA Karachi, Dr Ishrat Husain, told the participants that by following the vision of Bhutto the country could steer itself out of the difficulties it was facing.The news.
