Two MNAs belonging to ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) submitted Higher Education Commission (Amendment) Act 2012 in the National Assembly suggesting four amendments in existing HEC Ordinance 2002 to reduce administrative powers of the institution that monitors higher education in the country.
Submitted by MNAs Yasmin Rehman and Dr. Nafeesa Shah the Amendment Act suggested depriving the HEC chairman of the status of the federal minister, reducing term of the HEC
