The cowardly attack on Malala Yousafzai and subsequent global reaction and attention to the plight of students, especially girl students, in Pakistan eclipsed almost everything on the country’s educational scene in the outgoing year 2012.
The incident, on one hand, raised the young child to the level of an icon of hope and courage for students, especially female students, to fight for their right to education and on the other hand it led to a debate
