Students injured in clash at UoE
Lahore: University of Education on Monday once again witnessed violence when two student organisations clashed at its Township campus.

Activists of Insaf Students Federation (ISF) of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) clashed, which left some students injured.

Jamiat claimed some outsiders (ISF) wanted to take control of the campus while ISF claimed it had set up a camp to register new members, which annoyed IJT activists, who attacked their camp. They alleged IJT activists resorted to violence when ISF activists refused to wind up the camp.

ISF spokesman Musa Ghaznavi said the injured included Gulraiz, Umer and Sabeeh ul Hasan who were rushed to Jinnah Hospital by Rescue 1122.

IJT spokesman Ahmad Shaheen said ISF activists wanted to take control of the University of Education campus and had tried so in the past too. The local police arrived at the scene and arrested some of the students of both the groups.

A press release said ISF Punjab President Farrukh Habib, Lahore president Muhammad Usman and others reached there and strongly protested against IJT hooliganism. They demanded of the Punjab government to take action against the culprits and register FIR against them.

When contacted Township police station, a Moharar Naveed on duty said over a dozen students belonging to both the groups were taken into custody, adding meeting between both the parties was going on at the police station and no FIR had been registered yet.

No FIR has been registered till filing of this report. PU results: The Punjab University announced results of different examinations on Monday.
