LAHORE:THE first international Sufi conference will be held in October 2011 under the auspices of the International Sufi Council.
This has been disclosed by Fakhar Zaman, Chairman, Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) and International Sufi Council in a statement issued on Friday (ISC). He has recently come back from his personal tour of European countries, including Holland, Austria, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Hungry, France, Latvia, Estonia, Czech Republic and Sweden.
He further informed the media that during his tour he met with European intellectuals and writers and briefed them about PAL’s projects, quarterly Adbiyat’s special issues, makers of Pakistani literature series and documentaries on Sufi poets which PAL had produced and released this year. Thirteen more documentaries on Sufi poets are underproduction.
Fakhar Zaman added that European writers and intellectuals appreciated PAL’s efforts to promote Pakistani literature and teachings of Sufi poets and to highlight a soft image of Pakistan all over the world. He is very hopeful that the underproduction documentaries will also achieve the level of excellence which the first three documentaries have shown.
