Campuses celebrate Independence Day today

LAHORE: The educational institutions across the provincial metropolis like other parts of the country will organise the ceremonies to mark the country’s 64th Independence Day on Sunday (today).

A number of universities and colleges have planned flag hoisting ceremonies and other events including national song competitions to celebrate the I-Day with traditional zeal and fervour. Punjab University, Government College University, University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), University of Education and many other colleges and varsities have arranged the flag-hoisting ceremonies which will be attended by heads of the teaching departments, senior faculty members and employees of the said institutions.

A large number of students of the government schools will take part in a main ceremony to be held in connection with the I-Day at Hazoori Bagh on Sunday (today). The students will sing national songs while other performances have also been scheduled to be performed by the students. According to EDO Education Lahore Muhammad Pervaiz Akhtar, some schools will be open to mark the 14th of August celebrations however most of the government schools will organise the Independence Day ceremonies including seminars, contests and competitions once the schools reopen after annual summer vacation on August 15.The news.
