LAHORE: The Government College University Botany Department celebrated the National Plantation Day on Thursday by planting saplings on university premises. GCU Vice Chancellor Muhammad Khaleeq-ur Rehman inaugurated the plantation campaign by planting a sapling at the GCU Scholars’ Gardens. GCU Botany Department member Zaheer Ahmed Khan and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Khaleeq announced that GCU would plant as many as 5,000 saplings of indigenous plants at the GCU Kala Shah Kaku Campus to create a healthy and conducive learning environment. “I believe that the essence of learning lies in close relationship with nature.”Daily Times.
