GCU cuts hostel fee by 35pc

LHORE:GOVERNMENT College University (GCU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rehman has slashed hostel fee by 35 percent to facilitate students of far-flung areas.

GCU s Hostels Committee has issued a notification of revised dues for Quaid-e-Azam Hostel and Allama Iqbal Hostel and the new fee structure has been implemented with immediate effect.

GCU Vice Chancellor has waived the hostels admission fee, miscellaneous dues and welfare funds besides reducing all other charges.

Chairing a meeting of GCU Hostels Committee on Thursday, GCU Hostels Committee Chairman Prof Dr Khalid Pervaiz said it might be the first time in the history of any educational institution that the fee was reduced. The Vice Chancellor also directed the Hostels Superintendents that not even a single facility being provided to the students should be affected due to reduction in dues. He said students who came from far-flung areas deserved our special attention .

Prof Khaleeq pledged that university would also increase the scholarships for the deserving students through its Endowment Fund Trust. He also appreciated the efforts of the newly appointed Superintendent Quaid-e-Azam Hostel Abdul Waheed and Superintendent New Hostel Khadim Ali Khan for the welfare of students.

plantation: The Botany Department of Government College University on Thursday celebrated National Plantation Day by planting saplings on the university premises.

A press release said GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq ur Rehman inaugurated the plantation campaign by planting a sapling at the GCU Scholar s Gardens. Dr Zaheer Ahmed Khan and many students were there. The VC announced that they would plant 5,000 saplings of indigenous plants at the GCU Kala Shah Kaku Campus.The news.
