Karachi:Speakers at a seminar organised by Tehreek-i-Nifaz-i-Urdu have strongly recommended proactive measures for implementation of Urdu as an official language in the country.
Dr Mobin Akhter (Psychiatrist), Naseem Ahmed Shah (Scholar), Dr Haseeb Ahmed (Researcher), Shabbir Ahmed Ansari and Said Ahmed Baig said that Urdu, an internationally spoken language, needed to be encouraged at all levels in the country.
The speakers said that vast majority of the countries had managed to achieve marked success in the fields of education literature, science and technology through promotion of their respective national languages.
“We are lagging way behind due to lack of will to adopt our national language in its truest sense,” said Dr Mobin Akhter.
Naseem Ahmed Shah said that national progress and prosperity was largely dependent on uniformity of language of instruction in the country. He said that the government needed to do away with class-based educational system rampant in the country.
“Urdu must be the medium of instruction at each and every educational institution in the country,” said the scholar. The organisers of the programme announced to observe the 50th death anniversary of Baba-e-Urdu, Moulvi Abdul Haq on August 16.
On the occasion a delegation of Tehreek-i-Nifaz-i-Urdu would lay a wreath at the mausoleum of Baba-e-Urdu and attend the meeting scheduled to be organised by Anjumane Tarraqi Urdu.The news.
