Protest against killing of student

KARACHI : Some 200 students and friends of Ahmed Bilal Macdi, a student of ‘O’ Level and son of Director Finance DHA Jamal Macdi who was kidnapped for ransom and later brutally murdered gathered at Seaview DHA on Saturday evening and held a protest walk demanding justice and public hanging of the victim. Young school boys and girls and members of civil society enthusiastically participated in the walk which started from McDonald Restaurant Seaview and ended peacefully at Floating Kitchen. The participants throughout chanted vociferous slogans of ‘We want justice’ and ‘We Demand Speedy trial and Hanging of killers in public’. They appealed to the public to rise against the menace of extremism and terrorism prevalent in the country. They expressed their solidarity and sympathy to the bereaved Macdi family. The participants were holding banners and play cards with inscriptions like “We want justice to be done within a month”, “Why Ahmed Macdi? Who is next? Is it you”, “President! Uncle Pass the Bill for Public Hanging”, “Dear Legislature! please help restore justice by Public Hanging”. The protest walk terminated at Floating Kitchen where the participants prayed for their colleague late Ahmed Macdi and for peace and solidarity in the country. A tragic and touching scene was witnessed when the mother of Ahmed Macdi who participated in the walk carrying play card of his son’s photo collapsed and fell down out of immense grief and sorrow.PPI.
