LAHORE, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz has urged students to hone their abilities in the field of cosmetics, which is expanding with the every passing day.
Speaking at a certificate distribution ceremony at the conclusion of a four-month course on cosmetics at conference hall organised by the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences on Wednesday, he said Pakistan alone was importing cosmetic products worth billions of rupees.
The VC said the university would produce skilled human resource to cut the volume of imports. He advised students not to become job seekers but try to become entrepreneurs and develop new products.
Prof Nawaz said cosmetic products that were being manufactured with low standard local chemical ingredients were posing serious health hazards.
He said the course was aimed at training students and delivering more information about quality cosmetics and safety protocols.
IPS director Farzana Chaudhry and Dr Atif Kamran also spoke. Later, the VC distributed certificates among students who completed the course.
PEF: The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) is all set to expand its Foundation Assisted Schools (FAS) programme in seven more districts to accommodate under-privilege students.
This was stated by PEF Chairman Raja Muhammad Anwar at a meeting of programme directors and project officers to review the pace of expansion of educational programmes at foundation offices on Wednesday.
Mr Anwar said the FAS programme would be launched in seven new districts – Khanewal, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Gujranwala and Kasur.
He said the PEF would also give an opportunity to private institutions in these districts to improve their educational standards.
During the meeting, various proposals also came under discussion about accessing the out-of-school children by motivating NGOs, media, ulema and the teaching community to sensitise the elders of poor families to send their children to schools.Dawn.
