Karachi All is set to hold the Annual Examination 2011 of Intermediate Part I and II under the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) from May 16. However, some influential persons, ethnic groups and mafia have become active for changing the examination centres in the city as per their desire.
Sources said that MNAs, MPAs, bureaucrats and others including ethnic groups and private school mafia were forcing the higher authority of the BIEK for changing the examination centres.
Such elements become active every year to get the centres changed before the commencement of the examination process for getting their interests fulfilled including earning money through impersonations and unfair means in their desirable centres, sources said.
When contacted for confirmation of such reports, Chairman BIEK Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai said that the board had established 90 examination centres in different colleges of the city and he would not accept any pressure by the mafia and influential persons for changing the examination centres.
He said that some influential persons demanded of the board administration to change the examination centres on ethnic basis and establish new examination centres as per their desire, but the board refused their demands.
This year the board had not established any examination centre in the city outskirts to curb this practice, Prof Zai said.
When contacted General Secretary of Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA), Iftikhar Mohammad Azmi, he said that his association always condemned the process of changing examination centres for evil intentions by the mafia.
He said that the administration of the BIEK, especially the chairman of the board should take action against such mafia and reject any pressure for changing the examination centres.The news Bureaucrats, others active for change in BIEK exam centres
