Cadet College to be established at Khairpur: Sindh CM


KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that education is very essential for literacy, development, progress and prosperity of any nation, as the government is paying full attention towards spreading the education in every nook and corner of the province so as to achieve better results for increasing the literacy ratio.
He was presiding over a high-level meeting for establishing a Cadet College at Khairpur, at his office here on Tuesday.
He said there is acute need of professional and technical education in various parts of the province as such the present government is encouraging establishment of Cadet Colleges, public schools technical institutes, computer literacy centres etc.
He said the provincial government is also providing maximum incentives to private sector so as to promote education for the children in all areas.
Senior Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq and others expressed their views and fully supported the proposed project of establishment of Cadet College at Khairpur.
Project Director Commander Muhammad Aslam Rana highlighted silent factures of the Cadet College and said that there will be need of about 400 acres of land, so as to establish not only the building, administrative block, academic complex, dairy farm, poultry farm, shops and hospital facility near to the college.
The meeting was informed that there are 261 colleges in Sindh, out of which 131 colleges are in Karachi, 54 are in Hyderabad and rest of 76 are in remaining parts of the province. The education department has proposed 23 new colleges for interior of Sindh.
DCO Khairpur Ghulam Abbas Baloch informed the meeting that district Khairpur has rich historical and educational background, which is second largest district among all districts of the province. He said there are 3,672 schools in public sector and about 500 schools in private sector in the district, while total enrolment of public schools is 3,31,876 students.
Pir Mazhar said that there are four Cadet Colleges functioning at Petaro, Sanghar, Larkana, Ghotki, while five new Cadet Colleges have already been proposed for Shaheed Benaziraabad, Kakar (Dadu), Mithi, Kandhkot and GadpTown.
DCO Khairpur said that the new Cadet College of Khairpur would cover the population of Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur and Nausheroferoze Districts.
It was also decided that necessary funding would be ensured for the Cadet College, Khairpur. Secretary to CM, member (LU) Board of Revenue Sindh, secretary finance Sindh and others attended the meeting.Daily times
