closing ceremony of Inter-NUST Science Olympiad, Sytek 2011

Islamabad:The closing ceremony of Inter-NUST Science Olympiad, Sytek 2011, was held here in which participants were given prizes and certificates in recognition of their hard work and effort they had put in during the three-day event, says a press release.
Videos depicting glimpses of different events and participants at work were shown and speeches were made by the president and convener of the Sytek 2011 as well as by NUST Rector Mohammad Asghar.
The NUST rector praised members of the NUST Science Society and appreciated their previous endeavours too. He discussed the development of science over ages and its importance for the present generation of science students.
NUST Science Society President Mahwish Bukhari thanked the sponsors and the host team for the success of the event and hoped that the vigorous efforts of its members would continue in future.
The Sytek 2011 started on Friday on an enthusiastic note as many participants who had registered for the ‘Scientific Scavenger Hunt’ flocked to the venue of the ceremony. On Saturday, participants toiled over catapults and boats for the competitions ‘Sciattack’ and ‘Bon Voyage’ respectively, while others predicted the grim ending of the world and articulately persuaded judges to choose their space settlement design to save humanity in ‘Project Exodus’. The Saturday ended on a light note as the exhausted participants flocked to various stalls at the geek themed carnival, grandly titled ‘Carnivale’.
On Sunday, the Sytek 2011 began with the event ‘Bridge Your Imagination’ and it was followed by ‘Science Quiz,’ ‘Project Exhibition’ and ‘In the Sky’.
The Sytek 2011 is an initiative of the NUST Science Society, which aims to promote similar science events among students in order to instigate interest in practical aspects of science. Over 400 students participated in the event and their feedback was overwhelming. Science Olympiad ends at NUST
