Good versus evil theme of new novel
ISLAMABAD, May 8: Introduction of an ideal human being is the baseline of the main character of Yahan Say Aagay, a novel, which revolves around the struggle going on between the honour caring and the honourless in the world.
These views were expressed by eminent scholar and fiction writer Intezar Hussain while presiding over the launching ceremony of the novel written by Najamus Saqib here. The programme was jointly arranged by Pakistan Academy of Letters
(PAL) and literary organisation, Imkaan.
Kishwar Naheed, Mohammad Mansha Yad, Neelofar Iqbal, Anjum Khaleeq and Abdaal Bela expressed their views. The proceedings were conducted by Noureen Talat Arooba.
Intezar Hussain said the novel had full properties of becoming a noticeable addition to the Urdu fiction world. The author has advocated the qualities of goodness against evil through the leading character of his novel quite convincingly with the power of his pen, flight of his ideas and depth of his insight towards human behaviour with particular reference to our society.
Najamus Saqib read excerpts from his novel on the occasion.
Mansha Yad said the novel was a reflection of our society as well as that of the world politics, as it points towards the realities hidden under the thick fog of confusion covering 9/11. Therefore, we may say that fictions can also lead us to discover realities.
Neelofar Iqbal said the character of Waleed reflects the human hunger and quest for what is the noblest and of utmost importance for our soul in its journey through this earthly life. In this hierarchy of values, wealth stands at the bottom and honour at the topmost.
Anjum Khaleeq said Imkaan stood to its reputation of introducing excellent books to the literary people by launching yet another masterpiece written by Najamus Saqib, who already enjoys fame as a creative poet, compere and diplomat.
PAL Director-General Abdaal Bela said the novel was a true picture of the tussle between good and evil going on everywhere in our society.Dawn
