Kiu against ASA office-bearers for demanding implementation of Supreme Court

Termination of ASA office-bearers condemned Islamabad Chapter of Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Associations President Professor Zahid Majeed has condemned the action of vice chancellor of the Karakoram International University against ASA office-bearers for demanding implementation of Supreme Court orders regarding removal of superannuated persons.

Zahid Majeed while talking to this scribe said that it is strange that we find dictators sitting in the institutions of higher learning in a democratic era. He said that the mindset of Pakistani bureaucracy is treating the people as slaves and this is happening in universities too.

He lamented that the vice chancellors of almost all the universities including those located in the federal capital “are dictators, behaving like superior minds in universities and deal with the academicians and other staff as their slaves.” The FAPUASA official said that VCs are working in such a way as if they are not bound by the statutory bodies and deciding what they want.

The recent black and shameful example of VC of Karakoram International University, he said, is an example who has employed hosts of superannuated personnel giving a damn to the verdict of the Chief Justice of Pakistan asking the authorities to remove all retired people from contractual appointments.

Professor Majeed said that ASA, KIU, had just opened first page of the corruption of Dr Najma Najam and presented white paper against her. He said that the “white paper reflected her shameful actions and decisions taken against the Supreme Court verdict as well as against the HEC policy and guidelines.” He said that as President, Islamabad Chapter, FAPUASA, he personally condemn the termination and pulling out ASA, KIU, office-bearers from the jobs. The news
