PUCIT, IT firms organise programming competition
LAHORE: The Punjab University College of Information Technology (PUCIT) in collaboration with four multinational information technology (IT) companies, Confiz Solution, TKXEC, Technology Accelerated and North Bay Solutions, organised ‘Code Spree 2011’ an intra Lahore speed programming competition, on Saturday.
Around 150 students from 25 IT schools across the city participated in the contest and tested their programming and IT skills.
The PUCIT students’ team ‘Code Warriors’ clinched the first position, University of Engineering and Technology students’ team ‘Trio-Legend’ bagged the second position, while the third position was shared between PUCIT’s team ‘BCSF7A’ and COMSATS students’ team ‘COMSIANS’.
Fifty teams, comprising of three participants each, were given four hours to find solutions to seven complex programming problems, using C++ and Java programmes.
The programmers were also tested for speed, efficiency, time management, knowledge and methods of deriving solutions through the PC2 software provided by the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM).
Congratulating the winning teams, PU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran said success was not possible without developing a prior strategy and the will to accomplish it. He said that the youth of the country were talented, which was further required to be polished by accomplished teachers.Daily times
