SMC to hold public awareness campaign against Hepatitis

KARACHI : The Sindh Medical College (SMC) Alumni Association is organizing a public awareness campaign, “United we Stand against Hepatitis C” from July 25 to 30.The Campaign Coordinator, Dr. Natasha in a statement on Saturday said that more than 200 volunteers, mainly comprising medical students, will participate in the six- day campaign. They will first be given lectures by Dr.Furqaan Ahmed regarding Hepatitis C, its prevention and treatment. The students will then form small groups and go around Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center and National Institute of Child Health, educating the patients and the paramedical staff. Later on, they will also visit barbers and beauticians throughout Karachi to educate them about risks they and their clients may be exposed, to contract Hepatitis C.The Volunteers will motivate them to bring about essentially required changes in their professional practices as a safe guard against the deadly virus, that is largely preventable.APP
