ISLAMABAD Declaring a proposed decision of the federal government to wind up Basic Education Community Schools (BECS) project as unlawful and violation of various constitutional provisions guaranteeing basic education to the citizens, the Supreme Court on Monday observed that under Article 25A of the Constitution, it has been made mandatory upon the state to provide education to the children of the age of 5 to 16 years.
