The Japanese cultural centre in town was host to a Japanese reading and speech contest on Sunday afternoon where young Pakistani men and women delivered speeches and read passages in Japanese, thus displaying their language skills.

Besides, it was an exercise in promoting understanding between the two countries through the medium of language.

In all there were 12 contestants in the speech contest and 11 in the reading contest. All of them were Pakistanis.
