Govt promoting medical education Sana Punjab Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that the Punjab government is paying special attention to the promotion of medical education while four new medical colleges have been established besides increasing the admission fees in the existing medical colleges.
He was speaking at the 8th convocation of Punjab Medical College at PMC Auditorium on Wednesday. He said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif had approved a handsome package worth Rs 5.2 billions to provide economic relief to the Health Department employees of all cadres, while 4,000 medical officers had been regularised. He urged asked doctors to perform their duties with dedication to serve the ailing humanity.
University of Health Sciences VC Dr Malik Hussain Mubashir said that Punjab government was spending millions of rupees on medial education. He urged the doctors to devote themselves to the honour of their profession. He greeted award winning medical students and advised them to serve humanity without any discrimination.
PMC Principal Dr Riaz Hussain Dab, in his welcome address, highlighted the academic and extra-curricular achievements of the college. He said that seminars, conferences and other events were organised in the college to apprise the faculty members and students of advancements in medical education. Later, Rana Sanaullah Khan awarded medals to position holders in various examinations for 2007-8 and 2008-9.
The minister also inaugurated the building of Girls Khadija Hostel, which had been renovated at a cost of Rs 1.275 million. He also inaugurated a cardiac care unit (CCU) at Allied Hospital, which was established at a cost of Rs 2 million on self-help basis. He took a round of the CCU and appreciated the medical services being provided to heart patients in the unit. MPAs Khawaja Muhammad Islam, Dr Khalid Imtiaz Bloch and Zafar Iqbal Nagra, Allied Hospital Board of Management chairman Mian Latif and various officers of the Health Department were also present.The news
