International Islamic University Islamabad ideas at 'Open House'



Students display innovative ideas at 'Open House'
Islamabad: Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector, and Dr Mumtaz Ahmad, President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), inaugurated the second annual Open House here on Monday.


They along with senior faculty members visited the projects displayed by the students. Appreciating the students for the efforts, the IIUI president stressed the need for bringing new ideas in the energy sector. He said that Pakistan is facing energy crisis and students should bring new ideas in this sector. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad also invited the commercial sector to support and implement the innovative ideas of the students of IIUI, which can contribute in the development of the country.


Dr. Riaz Ahmad, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology, IIUI, said that the students have successfully invented the ideas for commercial and industrial production, which is being imported from abroad. He said that if the students of engineering at local universities are supported by commercial sector, they could be able to fulfil the market demands locally. He termed Faculty of Engineering and Technology a promised future for commercial and industrial production.


A number of male and female students of the faculty displayed their project presenting innovative ideas. Thirty-four projects of female students and twenty-six projects of male students were displayed separately at both the campuses. The students shared their ideas at respective stalls with gesture to contribute in development of the country. The students used latest IT and engineering knowledge for developing their innovations.


The guests took keen interest in the projects and lauded their efforts. Visitors took keen interest and asked questions from students about different features of their projects. Some of the projects were the key focus of the visitors which include 'Magic Stick for Blind Person', 'Sound Based Elevator Control System for Blind Persons', 'Intelligent Wheel Chair Remotely Controlled by Hand Gestures', 'Portable Heart Monitoring Device', 'A Small Power Plant On A Canal', and 'In-Flight Path Control of a Model Aircraft'. Various organisations including Pakistan Vacuum Society, NINVAST and others also displayed different products in the open house.


A number of senior faculty members, officers, and students of IIUI and other universities and professionals attended the event from industrial organisations, institutions, and academia. Dr. Zia ul Haq, Dean Faculty of Shariah and Law; Qaiserah M. Alvi, Director Female Campus; S. M. Bhutta, Professor Department of Electronic Engineering; Dr Nouman Khan, Chairman, Department of Electronic Engineering; Engineer Saba Hameed, In-charge, Department of Electronic Engineering, Female Campus; Khursheed Alam, Director (Finance), Mahmood Ahmad Farooqui, Additional Director (P&PR), and Shahid Ikram, Lecture, FET, were also present on the occasion.


The event was organised at male and female campuses separately.


'Mahamuqabla' held at City School
Islamabad: The management of the City School, Capital Campus, hosted a sports event titled 'Mahamuqabla'. The event provided the entire staff of branches in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi and the Regional Office (North) an opportunity to break from routine and showcase their sporting talent in various games in the playground.The idea of the event was appreciated and supported by the Regional Office. The regional academic coordinators and Regional Director North Safia Cassim were present on the occasion. All staff members collectively participated in diverse sports of football, cricket, badminton, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and athletics.
