knowledge and education, seminar titled Women of Wisdom was organised at Fatima Jinnah Women University

Rawalpindi order to raise the consciousness of society with great knowledge and education, seminar titled Women of Wisdom was organised at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) here on Friday.

The seminar was organised by the university s Department of Education in collaboration with the Pakistan Collation Education (PEC).
Education is the most powerful tool empowering people to lead a life of dignity and also essential for achieving sustained high economic growth, said Professor Dr Samina Amin Qadir, Vice Chancellor of FJWU. She said that FJWU is a pioneer institution, which provides quality of education to women of Pakistan. She also shed light on the activities of Pakistan Collation Education (PEC). She also added the quote of Quaid-e-Azam: No nation can reach to the glory unless you take your women side by side.

PEC s National Coordinator Zehra Arshad briefed the audience about the Global Action Week and its significance in the present scenario of Pakistan. She talked about the low literacy rate of women in Pakistan. PCE is trying to mobilise stakeholders for the betterment of education. She said that the government should make plans to overcome the problem adding the education planning should be gender sensitive.

Chairperson of National Commission on Status of Women Anees Haroon said that without education, we can t achieve the ultimate goals of development. In the present situation, the roles of women are changing gradually with the demands of society.

Ex-chairman of Islamic Ideology Council Dr. Khalid Masuad talked about the traditional roles and modernity of Muslim women of today s world.The news Gender sensitive education urged
