Private schools win charity case

Angela Harrison Education correspondent, BBC News  Independent schools have fought a long battle over their charitable status Independent schools have won a long-running legal battle with the Charity Commission on what schools must do to justify their charitable status.

The Independent Schools Council had challenged tighter rules brought in on how private schools in England and Wales define themselves.
Most independent schools are charities and as such have tax benefits.
