The Punjab government has envisaged a new plan for administrative control over public sector universities across the province, to ensure accountability of vice-chancellors (VCs) for managerial and academic failures as well as issues related to financial irregularities at their respective varsities.
The proposed plan also includes appointment of eminent individuals as chairman of a varsity’s syndicate, the highest statutory body of a university. At present, the body is headed by VCs at
