Plaid’s education spokesman Sion Thomas calls himself a ‘critical friend’ of Labour’s policy ... but with reservations

Contrary to popular belief, Simon Thomas is not and never has been a teacher. But as Gareth Evans finds out, he does have a keen interest in the nation’s schools...

LAST year saw the return of Simon Thomas to frontline politics.

Formerly MP for Ceredigion, he was named – after a six-year absence – Plaid Cymru AM for Mid and West Wales in May’s Assembly elections.

Mr Thomas replaced Nerys Evans, who also relinquished her role as the party’s voice on education.
