A leaf from history: A state of paralysis

To show that he was sincere in holding new elections in the constituencies where rigging had been reported, Z.A. Bhutto asked the Chief Election Commissioner, Justice Sajjad Ahmad Jan, on March 21, 1977 to immediately go through the electoral results and the reports of rigging and directed him: “If some individuals have violated the law, it is my earnest desire that they be proceeded against and brought to book as quickly as possible.”
