ISLAMABAD, The post of Higher Education Commission (HEC) chairperson remains vacant even though 20 days have passed since the former chairman’s contract expired.
Dr Javaid Laghari, the former HEC head, relinquished charge after his contract expired on August 26. However, Mr Laghari is hoping for an extension as he has only completed a single term while the chairperson can be appointed for two four-year terms.
HEC was established in 2002 and Dr Atta-ur-Rahman was its first chairperson.
