Letters: Bring school hours and facilities into the 21st century
It is not so much the length of the school term that needs changing, rather that the services provided in school buildings should be extended to meet the needs of 21st-century family life (Gove calls time on six-week summer break, 3 July). This would include childcare to cover the normal working day, throughout the year. The current system of providing wraparound care and holiday care is voluntary, patchy and unreliable.
