ISLAMABAD: The honeybees’ ability to find flowers could be hampered by a chemical in diesel exhaust, scientists revealed in a recent study.
Tests showed that the exhaust degraded some chemicals in the floral sensing ability of the bees, the BBC reported.
The study revealed that a specific group of chemicals found in diesel exhaust, known as NOx, diminishes the insects’ response to floral scents. The scientists say the results are evidence that air quality should be improved.
