Ishtiaq Ahmad talks about his book of “Pakistan; the garrison state”, by the Oxford University Press

LAHORE, Pakistan needs to resolve the basic dichotomy – whether it wants to become a religious orthodoxy or a modern democratic state – if it wants to be a useful member of comity of nations.

So said Ishtiaq Ahmed, author of “Pakistan; the garrison state”, in a lecture on his book by the Oxford University Press.

Apart from that, Pakistan has to grow beyond security paranoia, which has gripped it, not entirely without justification, for the last six decades, he said.
