AUDIO: Lecturers' pay 'substantial' say employers
Investment in higher education staff pay has remained "substantial" despite the recession, the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) has argued. The group's chief executive, Helen Fairfoul, made the statement as lecturers and support staff at universities across the UK went on strike in a row over pay. The University Colleges Union, Unite and Unison claimed that pay had failed to keep up with rising living costs. Ms Fairfoul told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "Higher education
