Pakistani young student at United Nations (UN) Headquarters

LAHORE DRONES cannot build peace in Pakistan, only education can do that, said Ibrahim Khan, a young student from Pakistan who spoke at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters recently.

Ibrahim Khan, a Pakistani student studying in University of Bridgeport, USA, originally from Peshawar, Pakistan was one of the students who were invited by the UN from all over the world.

He gave a presentation on the burning issue of drone strikes in Pakistan and spoke about its negative impact on Pakistan.

More than 450 educators and students attended the Committee on Teaching about the United Nations (CTAUN) Conference 2014 “Promoting Peace through Education” at the UN Headquarters. The conference included presentations, an interactive workshop, posters, music and a powerful opening video.

The speakers in the conference included representatives from the UN agencies, practitioners, and noted peace activists.

Dr Thomas J Ward, Dean of College of Peace and International Affairs, University of Bridgeport chaired the Posters Session that was held for the second time and students were among those selected for recognition in this year’s CTAUN best poster competition.
