SINCE the government is promoting the Smart CNIC Card, I thought it would be a good idea to get my CNIC converted. But lo and behold, on visiting the Nadra centre in Clifton, I was told that unless I could give my parents’ (who are no more on Planet Earth) NIC/CNIC numbers or a CNIC reference of a sibling, my card would not be converted.
I appreciate that logic is something not expected from our bureaucrats, but I still believe since I have been issued a CNIC I should get a Smart Card.
I am considered a citizen of Pakistan with all the privileges and pitfalls and am entitled to technological benefits that the government wants to promote.
I will appreciate an answer from the same Nadra official whom the new interior minister has found easy to follow orders of.
