25 Basant buffs sent to jail city police officer (CPO) suspended station house officers (SHOs) GUJRANWALA

GUJRANWALA: A local court sent 25 people to the central jail on Monday for celebrating basant or kite festival, and released four boys on bail.


The city police officer (CPO) suspended station house officers (SHOs) Mahmood Goraya, Javed Akhtar and Muhammad Ilyas of Kotwali, City Kamoki and Civil Line police stations, respectively, for their negligence and inefficiency.


Police had arrested 29 people, including four boys, on charges of kite flying, and produced them in the court of Special Magistrate Ansar Hayat who accepted the bail applications of primary school students Hamza, Zain, Murtaza and Abdul Hameed. The remaining 25 were sent to jail.
