Awareness against thalassemia urged organised by Omair Sana Foundation in collaboration with District Central Karachi administration

KARACHI: A seminar and walk to create awareness about thalassemia was held here at Government College of Science and Commerce for Women.
These events were organised by Omair Sana Foundation in collaboration with District Central Karachi administration.



 

Dr Saifur Rehman, deputy commissioner of Central Karachi, Obaid Hashmi, Joint Secretary of OSF, Dr Rahat Hussain, Manager, Thalassemia Awareness Programme, Prof Zeenat Mahmood, College Principal and Bushra Ihsan, the Coordinator of the programme, spoke at the seminar.
A large number of students, their parents and teachers attended the seminar.
Earlier, Dr Rahat Hussain briefed the participants on prevention of thalassemia.
Addressing the audience, Dr Saif said Pakistan is facing multiple problems, adding that one more problem would be unfortunate. “The only solution lies in a premarital thalassemia test that can save the new generation.”
