Call to introduce new textbooks PRIVATE Textbook Publishers Association (PTPA)

PRIVATE Textbook Publishers Association (PTPA) Action Forum has alleged that Punjab School Education Department is applying delaying tactics instead of introducing new textbooks for class eight prepared by private sector according to the agreed schedule. Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club on Sunday, the office bearers of PTPA Action Forum, including Zubair Saeed, Sajjad Zaheer and Altaf Gohar, alleged that instead of introducing class eight textbooks prepared according to the new curriculum by private publishers, the schools department was taking illogical and unwise decision of introducing old textbooks. They said private publishers had spent millions of rupees in the process while manuscripts of the said textbooks had been with the department since December 2013 for selection of best of the best manuscript for the textbooks. The PTPA Action Forum office-bearers appealed to the Punjab chief minister to ensure continuation of new national curriculum. —Correspondent
