District Police Officer DPO Sohail Habib Tajik seeks detention of 26 IUB ‘students’

BAHAWALPUR: District Police Officer Sohail Habib Tajik has sought detention orders to be issued by the district coordination officer against 26 ‘trouble-making’ students of Islamia University for a month on the request of the varsity administration.

District police Public Relations Officer Rehan Gilani on Tuesday confirmed to Dawn that the DPO had recommended to the DCO for issuance of month-long detention order for 26 students under Section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO), after the varsity administration requested him so.

He said the students against whom detention orders were sought were creating trouble on the Baghdadul Jadid campus and hampering academic activities there.
