FIA moved against Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU)

Islamabad : The premium investigation agency FIA has been moved to conduct a thorough inquiry of the severe allegations of corruption and the abuse of power against the Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Dr. Nazir Sangi, The Frontier Post learnt.
According to details, FIA has been approached by the senior members of the AIOU Employees Union including its President and Secretary General through an application alleging Vice Chancellor Dr. Sangi and his alleged cronies for severe misconduct and financial corruptions.

Muazzam Hussain Qureshi the president and Muhammad Amjad Hashmi secretary of AIOU employees union stated in the letter that Dr. Sangi concealed factual information of the Executive Council and manoeuvred decisions in his favour. While mentioning some decisions of VC illegal and unlawful they alleged him for illegal appointments by averting the merit.
FIA was requested to hold thorough investigation of the corruption allegations, appointments, promotions and even the prurchase of land and construction projects. While stating further the malpractices Union leaders sought investigations into allotment of official residences, foreign tours of VC Dr. Sangi.
The letter, a copy of which is available with The Frontier Post further stated that the Vice Chancellor Dr. Sangi has once again applied for the post under the disguise of supporter of the present government and staunch supporter of PML-N government, which is contrary to the fact as his previous selection was purely made on the personal intervention of the then President Asif Ali Zardar. His appointment would no doubt be the last nail at the coffins of AIOU, a national institution already depriving due to his malafide policies and misadventures in the last four years, letter stated.
